Explore the ARTFX J Tobio Kageyama figure from Kotobukiya. This buying guide covers pose, scale, display tips, and who this Haikyu!! collectible is for.
Quick answer
The ARTFX J Tobio Kageyama figure is a well-crafted 1/8 scale statue that captures the setter's intense focus. It's best for Haikyu!! fans who want a ready-to-display, dynamic piece, but less ideal if you prefer articulated figures or a lower price point.
Pose and character accuracy
Kotobukiya's ARTFX J line focuses on capturing characters in signature moments. This Tobio Kageyama figure shows him mid-set, with a focused expression and a dynamic arm position that reflects his personality on the court.
If you value character accuracy over interchangeable parts, this figure delivers. The sculpt and paintwork emphasize the intensity of the Haikyu!! series without relying on gimmicks.
Scale and display considerations
At 1/8 scale, Kageyama stands about 8-9 inches tall depending on the pose. This is a common scale for anime figures, so it fits well alongside other 1/8 statues or Kotobukiya's ARTFX J lineup.
The base is simple but stable, making it easy to place on a shelf or in a detolf case. However, the dynamic pose means it takes up more horizontal space than a standing figure.
What you don't get
This is a pre-painted, fixed-pose figure. There are no interchangeable parts, extra faces, or accessories. If you enjoy swapping expressions or creating different display setups, you may find this figure limiting.
The catalog does not list articulation or additional options, so assume it's a static statue. That's typical for the ARTFX J line, which prioritizes sculpt quality over playability.
Decision rules for this figure
- Check the scale compatibility: Measure your display space. The 1/8 scale and dynamic pose require about 8-10 inches of height and 6-8 inches of width. Make sure it fits next to other figures without overcrowding.
- Consider your pose preference: If you want a figure that shows Kageyama in a high-energy moment, this is a strong choice. If you prefer a neutral standing pose or one with interchangeable parts, look for a different figure. Static pose means no customization.
- Budget for the price point: At a catalog price of USD 126.00 (compared to USD 180.00), this figure sits in the mid-range for scale figures. It's a good value if you prioritize paint and sculpt quality, but you can find simpler figures for less. Compare with other 1/8 scale anime figures in your budget.
